A quick look back at our year end activities . . .

Grade 2 and 3 Learn Engineering Skills

Before the winter break, all 2nd and 3rd grade science classes tested their teamwork and engineering skills.  Here, Ms. Screnci's second grade classroom constructed bridges with some basic materials. They used their creativity and ingenuity to make suspension bridges. Mrs. Browne's third grade class worked hard in their teams to build levitating "railroad" cars that would run on a track. We have engineers in the making!

All kindergarten classes participated in their annual representation of the Nutcracker ballet.  Thank you to all our guests that joined us for this memorable performance!

January 2, 2018 - Return to School

Student Council wrapped up the Pajama Drive on Wednesday!  We teamed up with Scholastic this year, who will provide a new book to all pajama recipients. Grade 1 collected the greatest number of new PJs and therefore wins a Pajama Day on Friday, December 22.  Congratulations to the entire school for collecting over 240 sets of PJs.  Thank you for your generosity and supporting this worthy cause!

Name the Alligator Contest Winner!

Congrats to Madelyn in Mrs. Scott's 2nd-grade classroom who named the alligator, Elbert. Thank you to Mrs. Pavlicek and the Science Center Team for bringing us fabulous animals, lessons, and experiments. Be watching for a "DIY" snow experiment for the winter break. 

Hour of Code in Action
Mrs. Guanci's kindergarten students work together with a partner to practice new coding skills they are learning in the Library/Learning Commons.  It's never too young to start coding!

Winter Concert Highlights!
Great concert presented by the Grade 4 and 5 chorus, band, and orchestra this week! Thank you to Mrs. Peabody, Mr. Dugan, Mrs. Gendron, and Mr. Samulak for all their hard work during the fall to get ready for the show.  A special thanks goes to Deb Gruber for volunteering her time to accompany the chorus.  Terrific job by all!

Hour of Code
When students visited the Learning Commons (library) this week, they used their time in the maker stations to CODE.  The programs they used were:
